In Day 5 of this close reading, rereadings of "The Declaration of Independence and the First Fourth of July" will focus on connecting a series of historical events by finding the sequence of causes to the major event. Students should be able to use the knowledge they gained throughout the week regarding vocabulary, key details, and author's purpose to determine the significant historical events, place them in sequential order, and determine their connection. Special Materials: - Student guided notes sheet - Copies of the anchor text for all students - Anchor charts (optional)
