This lesson plan is anchored by the text "Denver's Street Smart Prairie Dogs" from Smithsonian.com. The purpose of this task is for students to analyze multiple central ideas and how they are developed by the author. Students will need to build upon the 6th grade skills of determining a central idea. This focus question is meant to extend their skills by analyzing the development of multiple central ideas. The previous lessons have provided students with the necessary skills to analyze tone, structure, point of view and evidence in order to develop the central ideas. Special Materials: Students should have access to the following materials for this lesson: -Student guided notes sheet -Copies of the anchor text for all students
