This lesson focuses on inferring the primary traits of the story's protagonist, Keesh Understanding these traits will support students when they respond to the culminating writing task. The day starts with students rereading the text in pairs, annotating important information about Keesh. As a class and in pairs, students then answer text-dependent questions which explore Keesh's actions and words. The focus question task should be completed independently, as it can be used as a formative assessment. The attached video can be shown for struggling students. Special Materials: Students should have access to the student guided note sheet and copies of the anchor text.
