This lesson introduces students to the organization of this text. Given that the passage's most challenging aspect is its organization and flow, students need to realize as soon as possible that text features, such as headings, can assist their comprehension. This is reflected in the day's focus question: How do the text features in “The Bears of Yellowstone National Park” support the text in the passage? By understanding how the text features direct the reader through the text, students will better be able to put the pieces of the passage together and understand its overall meaning.
