On Day 5, students will respond to a culminating writing task that requires them to extract the theme (lesson) that the legend is teaching. Students will need to draw on the knowledge they have gained throughout the week about the characters' motives and actions, as well as the characters' success in obtaining the fire from the island. Students can use previous days’ notes and their copy of the annotated text as a support. Special Materials: Student guided notes sheet, copy of anchor text for each student
