The purpose of the Day Two lesson is to have students examine other ways that a poet can develop tone. Students will pay attention to how a poet uses word choice, assonance, alliteration, and meter to develop tone. Students will think about how this understanding of tone can help them identify an additional theme that is developing in the poem, before working towards the ultimate goal (Day Five) of discussing how two themes interact with and build upon one another.
