Readers will determine point of view and how it is conveyed in the text by analyzing word choice. Students will also have to use their word skills to determine word meaning, both denotative and connotative. Students will reread the text with a partner or in a small group. They will answer the supporting text-dependent questions on the student notes sheet. Student responses can then be discussed as a class. Students should complete the focus question independently. Student responses to the supporting questions and the focus question should be collected and used as formative assessment.
