Big Ideas: You can write equations to represent the constraints of a real life situation. You can identify the viable solutions for the real life situation from ordered pairs. Students will apply their knowledge of functions to write constraints and identify viable solutions. The task will ask students to identify viable solutions using the constraints. From the viable solutions, students will make a recommendation specifying the advantages and disadvantages of the choice. Functions will be a fundamental concept in algebra and future high school math courses. NOTE: function notation is addressed in later lessons.
