This lesson helps students to realize that Blake made intentional choices in his writing. Students focus on a specific structural element--the repetition of the birds in the poem--and examine why Blake decided to use this element. It builds on their understanding of structural elements in poems from the previous lesson and allows for a guided practice of part of the final writing task.
