Big Ideas: Patterns continue infinitely based on their rules. Patterns can have different starting points. This lesson introduces numerical patterns. In the task, the students solve a multi-step word problem about a lemonade stand using their own method. The goal of this lesson is to build understanding of numerical patterns in the context of real-world problems. It builds towards future lessons when students will compare corresponding terms in two numerical patterns and graph number patterns on the coordinate grid.
